There is not one cutoff that applies to every family because the phase-out depends on family income and the number of children. Benefits decline as adjusted family net income rises and can eventually reach zero.
The calculation starts with maximum amounts based on eligible children and ages, then reduces the benefit according to adjusted family net income above the applicable thresholds. Other related provincial or territorial benefits may also be delivered with CCB payments.
CCB is generally based on adjusted family net income derived from the tax returns of you and your spouse or common-law partner, where applicable. It is not simply based on gross salary.
When CRA considers parents to have shared custody, each eligible parent generally receives 50% of the amount they would have received if the child lived with them full time, based on their own family circumstances.
