1. Scope and accountability
This policy applies to personal information handled through the Numevia website and related communications. Numevia is responsible for personal information under its control. The person holding the highest authority for the website acts as the person in charge of the protection of personal information unless that function is delegated in writing. Privacy questions and requests may be addressed to the Privacy Officer at contact@numevia.ca.
2. Information collected and sources
Calculator assumptions and results are processed locally in your browser and are not intentionally transmitted to Numevia. Numevia does not require an account or a connection to a bank or financial institution. We may receive contact information and message content that you voluntarily send. Our hosting and security providers may automatically process limited technical data, such as an Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser and device information, requested pages, date and time, referring page and security logs.
3. Purposes and means
We collect only information reasonably necessary to operate and secure the website, respond to inquiries, investigate corrections, maintain records, understand service performance, comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal rights. Information is collected directly from you when you contact us and automatically through the technical operation of the website. It will not be used for a new incompatible purpose without consent or other lawful authority.
4. Consent and consequences of refusal
Where consent is required, Numevia will request consent that is clear, free and informed, for specific purposes, and separately when required by law. You may refuse to provide optional contact information, but we may then be unable to answer your request. You may withdraw consent for future use or communication, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
5. Calculator data and local storage
Do not enter names, account numbers, social insurance numbers or other identifiers in calculator fields. Any saved scenario details remain in local browser storage on your device until you delete them or clear your browser data. Numevia cannot retrieve locally stored calculator details. Calculator data is not sold.
6. Cookies, analytics, advertising and profiling
Numevia uses Google AdSense to support the website. Depending on your choices, applicable law and the settings available through Google’s advertising services, Google may process limited technical and interaction data and may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver, measure or personalize advertisements. Where consent is legally required, Numevia will provide appropriate notice and request it through available consent controls before non-essential advertising storage or personalized advertising is activated. Refusing non-essential advertising technology will not prevent access to the calculators. You can review or change available advertising and privacy choices through the consent controls presented on the site or your Google ad settings.
7. Service providers and communication
Personal information may be communicated to hosting, security, email, technical support, analytics or advertising providers only when necessary for an identified purpose and subject to appropriate safeguards. It may also be disclosed when authorized or required by law. Numevia does not rent or sell personal information. Providers may process information outside Quebec or Canada; before such a communication, Numevia will assess relevant privacy factors and implement contractual or other safeguards as required by Quebec law.
8. Retention, destruction and anonymization
Personal information is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy and applicable legal, accounting or evidentiary requirements. At the end of the retention period, it is securely destroyed or irreversibly anonymized for a serious and legitimate purpose, using generally accepted best practices and the criteria required by applicable law.
9. Security and confidentiality incidents
Numevia uses reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity, purpose, quantity, distribution and format of the information. No system is completely secure. Numevia maintains a process to assess and respond to confidentiality incidents and will notify affected persons and the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (CAI) when an incident presents a risk of serious injury, as required by law.
10. Your Quebec privacy rights
Subject to legal exceptions, you may request access to personal information held about you, obtain information about its collection and communication, request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information, withdraw consent, request cessation of dissemination or de-indexation where legally applicable, and receive computerized personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format when the portability right applies. We may verify your identity before responding. Written requests will be handled within the time required by law, generally no later than 30 days.
11. Complaints and review
Send a privacy request or complaint to the Privacy Officer at contact@numevia.ca. Include your name, contact information, the nature of the request and enough detail to identify the information involved; do not send sensitive financial information. If you are dissatisfied with Numevia’s response, you may contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (CAI).
12. Minors
The website is intended for a general adult audience and does not knowingly seek personal information from children under 14. Where Quebec law requires consent for the collection of personal information from a minor under 14, consent must be given by the holder of parental authority or tutor unless collection is clearly for the minor’s benefit.
13. Updates
Numevia may update this policy to reflect changes in law, practices or website features. Material changes will be brought to users’ attention by an appropriate notice. The effective date above identifies the current version.
